Baby

6 months, 26 weeks, 184 days – vol. 2

Two years ago, when Birdy turned half a year old I wrote:

No matter how I count it – 6 months, 26 weeks, 184 days, or 4416 hours – it feels like a lifetime ago and just yesterday at the same time.

Those words feel just as true today when Bamm-Bamm marks his first half a year.

He’s grown and developed so much over these months. Our tiny, helpless baby now smiles and babbles, can roll over both ways and even push himself up in a crawling position. It’s only a matter of time until he learns to move forward and explore everything that catches his attention.

Today also reminds me that life with kids never goes as we plan. Instead of meeting with friends, Birdy and Bamm-Bamm are home sick. The past few days are a blur of doctor’s visits, worries, and nighttime wakings to check on spiking fevers. Of lots of extra cuddles mixed with exhaustion and depleting reserves of patience.

Fortunately today also marks the beginning of hubby’s two months of parental leave. This week I need all the help I can get.

And once we are all back on our feet, adventures can begin!
