Karma is a B*** or the Woes of Pregnancy

It’s no secret that each and every pregnancy has some side-effects. Some are nice, some not so much. As my pregnancy progressed and I was reading all those books, articles and internet forums I realized more and more that, all things considered, I’m one lucky girl. Aside from my skin making a relapse to the teenage years I was feeling surprisingly well.

Morning sickness? Didn’t really happen.

Heartburn and acid reflux? Not worth mentioning.

Headaches? Nah, my occasional migraines even disappeared.

Trouble sleeping? Nope, not at all.

Excessive weight gain? Was barely showing before the end of the second trimester.

But now, two weeks to my due date, the pregnancy has become a pain in the butt. Literally. As the baby is lowering into the birth position, its begun to put pressure on my sciatic nerve. What is means is a constant stabbing pain when walking that starts at my lower back and radiates down all the way to my lower leg. Trust me, getting up from the couch has never been this hard. Ironically, staying on the couch doesn’t help either – also not exercising the leg makes the pain worse. It appears that I’ll just have to suffer this one through as, warm baths and massage aside, there’s not much that can be done.

So I guess I’ll just count this as restoring karmic balance, put a smile on my face and limp on!
